Mangalore: The Executive Committee of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) convened at Bethlehem Star, Saripalla, on December 13th, to commemorate the Christmas season in an atmosphere of faith, camaraderie, and festive cheer. The gathering served as an opportunity for members to strengthen bonds, reaffirm their commitment to service, and reflect on the spiritual significance of Christmas.

DCCW Secretary Violet Pereira extended a warm welcome to the assembled members of the DCCW family, setting a tone of inclusivity and shared purpose. The celebration commenced with the serving of traditional kuswar, a customary Christmas delicacy, symbolising the sharing of blessings and goodwill.

Following the refreshments, attendees engaged in a spirited session of Housie-Housie, fostering an atmosphere of lighthearted enjoyment and friendly competition. The merriment continued with a round of Antakshari, in which all members actively participated, contributing to the collective festive spirit and showcasing their talents.

DCCW President Gretta Pinto addressed the gathering, underscoring the significance of the occasion. “Today, we are gathered at Bethlehem to celebrate Christmas, a time for reflection and gratitude,” she stated. “We express our sincere gratitude to God Almighty for bestowing upon us this day.”
President Pinto also emphasised the importance of unity and mutual support within the DCCW. “This celebration serves as a reminder of our shared purpose and the strength we derive from working together,” she remarked. “We must resolve to relinquish any discord and instead, strive to serve our community with a unified spirit.” She further added, “Women possess inherent strength, and we must continue to empower one another. Constructive criticism may arise when we undertake meaningful endeavours, and we must learn to embrace it as an opportunity for growth.”

The celebration also included a recognition of Secretary Violet Pereira’s husband Joseph’s birthday, with President Pinto extending her best wishes. She concluded by expressing her appreciation for the collective enjoyment of the Christmas celebration and extending warm Christmas greetings to all those present.

A sumptuous lunch was served, providing an opportunity for further fellowship and informal conversation. Christmas goodies were distributed to all members as tokens of appreciation and festive cheer. Violet Pereira delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all those who contributed to the success of the event.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note, leaving attendees with cherished memories of the occasion and a renewed sense of commitment to the values of faith, unity, and service that underpin the mission of the DCCW.
